In this workshop, we embark on a symbolic, visual and poetic journey through works from the Islamic art collection at the Gulbenkian Museum.
The drawing wheel is a circular object that invites collective experimentation with a variety of techniques and materials. This time, we set off on a journey of discovery into Islamic culture, drawing inspiration from the Arabic alphabet, as well as from motifs and flowers that form patterns and adorn the glass, ceramic and textile pieces in the Museum.
After a process involving several stages and layers on a paper circle, we arrive at an illuminated object—a lamp-like drawing created by many hands!
