Bring items of clothing (adult or children's) that you no longer wear and swap them for others that you like better. You can also swap books, giving them a new lease of life while finding new reads in a responsible way.

Did you know that more than 5 million tonnes of clothes are discarded in Europe every year? And that the textile industry is responsible for 20% of the world’s drinking water pollution?

To encourage more sustainable and conscious consumption, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is teaming up with the Let’s Swap Association to organise a clothes and book swap market.

Join us to promote the circular economy, explore alternatives to traditional consumption and discover how small choices can have a big impact on the environment and society.

How does it work?

  • Each participant can bring up to five items of clothing (including accessories) and five books to the market;
  • At the event, the items are handed in at the check-in area, where they are registered in Let’s Swap’s in-house app and converted into points;
  • Schoolbooks and religious texts will not be accepted;
  • Participants who have never taken part in a Let’s Swap market receive five welcome points when they register at check-in;
  • At the end, participants go through the check-out, where the points from the items they have taken with them are subtracted from the initial points. If there are any points left over, they can be used for other Let’s Swap events.
