The Cantadeiras de Campo do Gerês are a traditional, polyphonic musical group that preserves and disseminates the songs of the Geresian Songbook, a cultural heritage that has been kept alive for decades through singing and oral transmission from generation to generation. Coro dos Anjos is a choir from the Anjos neighborhood (Lisbon) that works with Portuguese roots music, both ancient and new, embracing its own creations; with a strong social intervention focus, while at the same time trying to rescue community spirit and cultural regeneration through music.

This show is the result of a ten-day artistic residency that took place in October 2023, during which the two groups exchanged repertoire and created two original songs.

Created as part of the Aldeias Criativas (Creative Hamlets) project, promoted by Associação Cultural Rural Ruivo and supported by the PARTIS & Art for Change initiative.

The Aldeias Criativas (Creative Hamlets) project aims to allow local communities from the Serra do Gerês region to explore four artistic areas (music, painting, audiovisual, theatre) through artistic residencies and weekly workshops that bring together intergenerational groups in processes of co-creation inspired by and embedded in rural life. The goal is to promote art and culture in a region where these tend to be less accessible, contributing to fighting social/demographic isolation and to the development of a sense of community among participants, as well as raising awareness of the environmental impact of the human footprint, promoting good practices in agroecology.
