In this workshop we will learn more about these species and build wooden nest boxes for them to use during the next breeding season!

Among the many birds that inhabit the Gulbenkian Garden—and that play a vital role in keeping plants free from pests—some only build their nests in the cavities of  trees.

Fortunately, they have also learned to use nest boxes made by us, especially where hollow trees are scarce, as in urban environments. Tits are among these birds.

Of the five species found in Portugal, three can be seen in the Gulbenkian Garden.
