Auditorium 2 Calouste Gulbenkian FoundationIn groups, we will try to identify the greatest possible diversity of species of plants, insects, birds, and other animals in the Gulbenkian Garden, learning how to contribute to citizen science.
The International Day for Biological Diversity is celebrated annually on May 22nd and is based on the Convention on Biological Diversity adopted at the Earth Summit (Rio de Janeiro, 1992).
The goal is to promote sustainable development and the implementation of the principles contained in the new global biodiversity framework, in order to build a better future in harmony with nature and continue efforts to restore natural ecosystems.
Biographies

Fernando Catariino
Biologist and botanist, he taught several generations of lecturers and researchers at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Endowed with a profound passion for knowledge and a remarkable gift for storytelling, his name is associated with the moss species Zygodon catarinoi, discovered in 2006 and named in his honour. He served as Director of the Lisbon Botanical Garden for more than 20 years, making a decisive contribution to the conservation and study of plant life.

Biodiversidade para Todos
Biodiversidade para Todos is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 to promote and develop citizen science initiatives focused on recording and sharing information on biodiversity. It manages the BioDiversity4All platform — the largest public database of biodiversity records in Portugal.
