Worth 1 million euros, the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity was established by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2020 with the purpose of recognize people, groups of people or organisations from all over the world who have made outstanding achievements to tackle the climate crisis and whose contributions stand out for their originality, innovation and impact.

The first edition of the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity distinguished the environmental activist Greta Thunberg, who decided to distribute the amount among several environmental and humanitarian projects.

On 26th October, the Foundation will announce the winner of the second edition of the Prize.
