Empowering care organisations and professionals
Prioritising the enhanced empowerment of care organisations and professionals starts by identifying the gaps in senior care, such as the lack of knowledge and technical supervision of carers, the difficulty in recruiting and retaining professionals, and the mismatch between the supply of services and the needs of older people.
These needs have led the Foundation to promote initiatives focused on training and the certification and capacity building of the sector.
Training for Professional Carers
Project developed in collaboration with CUF and its Academy, APAV and NOVA Medical School.
Training is provided for carers, aimed at updating/enhancing knowledge and training new professionals.
Training in Mental Health and Dementias for IPSS/Misericórdia leaders and ERPI professionals
Project developed in collaboration with Alzheimer Portugal and APAV.
With increasingly more dependent residents, suffering from multiple chronic and neurodegenerative diseases, such as dementia, and in need of more specialised care, it is vital that we prioritise training for the professionals who care for them and raise the awareness of leaders to this reality.
A module on violence in senior care is offered with a view to preventing abuse and ensuring respect for the rights of older people.
This online training programme brings together ERPI (Residential Structures for Elderly People) technicians and managers, mostly from the Porto and Beira Interior regions.
