Our Work

Building coalitions to tackle complex global problems

The Foundation’s 2023-2027 strategy is guided by the twin pillars of Equity and Sustainability. There are seven multi-year grant-making programmes: Access to CareAccess to Culture, Access to Education, Climate and OceanDemocracy and Civil SocietyArmenian Communities, and Partnerships with Africa.

These build on the strengths and legacy of the Foundation, including the UK Branch’s work in the ocean, climate and arts sectors. The UK Branch contributes to the Foundation’s Access to Culture and Climate and Ocean programmes, which support work in the UK, Portugal and beyond to deliver change. We collaborate with colleagues and partners across borders to exchange knowledge and scale what works internationally.

Since its establishment in 1956, the UK Branch of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has supported organisations in the UK to improve the quality of life for all through art, charity, science and education. Our support falls within the scope of multi-year programmes.
