Vincenzo Bellini
After almost 50 years, the Metropolitan Opera is once again presenting a production of I Puritani, Bellini’s masterpiece. The last masterpiece by one of the most brilliant composers ever to embrace the operatic stage was crafted for four of the greatest voices of his time. Set amid the turmoil of the English Civil War, this work stands out for its vivid depiction of madness and is celebrated for granting its performers moments of striking vocal brilliance and dramatic flair. This time in the extraordinary voices of Lisette Oropesa, Lawrence Brownlee, Artur Ruciński and Christian Van Horn.
