Global Citizens Assembly – i4Policy

In 2021, i4Policy created the inaugural Global ‘Citizens’ Assembly’ to engage a representative sample of the global population in a citizens assembly process to raise awareness of the climate emergency and generate citizen-designed solutions. The Global Assembly is intended to redress the balance of power in the climate conversation, and bolster the public voice in international deliberations such as the annual Climate COP. The Foundation has contributed with a grant of £100,000.

At the start of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, the members of the Global Assembly presented their first People’s Declaration for the Sustainable Future of Planet Earth. This declaration has been prepared by the Assembly Members themselves as an interim statement for COP26. The final submission will be published in March 2022. It will contain a full response to the question: how can humanity address the climate and ecological crisis in a fair and effective way?
