Britain’s 50 new radicals

Last autumn the Observer joined forces with NESTA to find examples of inspirational Britons improving the lives of people and communities across the country in radical and creative ways.

50 ‘new radicals’ have been selected, including a number of our partners for initiatives supported by the Foundation across our major themes of Cultural Understanding, Fulfilling Potential and Environment.

  • Maslaha, an organisation seeking to empower disadvantaged Muslim communities to overcome social inequalities through education and inspiration.
  • Nick Stanhope, CEO of We Are What We Do, an organisation which delivers HistoryPin – one of our IntergenerationALL projects.
  • The Finance Innovation Lab, jointly run by ICAEW and WWF-UK, and which aims to help build a sustainable financial system.
  • Rob Hopkins, for the Transition Town Movement, which developed a new model for a community-led response to climate change and the use of fossil fuels.
