Solar power has bright future in schools

10 oct 2012

Campaigners are hoping to put clean energy in classrooms all over the country with the nationwide launch of the Solar Schools project. Over thirty schools will be taking part in the scheme. Together they’re aiming to raise around half a million pounds to invest in solar panels.

Schools have long used bake sales and non-uniform days to raise money for educational trips or extra textbooks. Solar Schools, run by environmental group 10:10 combines the latest in online fundraising techniques and social media with these more traditional activities to enable schools to raise the levels of money needed to install renewables.
