Memories from Afghanistan

Total approximate duration: 95 min. / Concert without intermission

Winner of the prestigious Aga Khan Music Award in 2022, Ustad Daud Khan is one of the greatest figures in Afghan music and one of the paragons of the rubab, an instrument from the lute family. Having learnt folk melodies and the ghazal (a poetic style conveyed through music) in Kabul, he also became a scholar of Indian ragas. Throughout his extensive career, he has been a tireless promoter of Afghan music, and, on stage, he amazes audiences with the unique sound of the rubab, evoking the stories and landscapes of his country.
