Djiyo

Total approximate duration: 75 min. / Concert without intermission

After meeting for the first time three years ago, which resulted in an album and more than a hundred concerts around the world, Ablaye Cissoko and Cyrille Brotto return to this illustrious two-man story. The Senegalese musician is one of the great masters of the kora (the so-called “African harp”), while the Frenchman is an accomplished performer on the accordion. In Djiyo, the duo’s second album, they deepen the crossover between the Mandinka and Occitan traditions in a music of poetic beauty and careful attention to one another’s worlds. A musical dialogue that is also an example of admiration between distinct cultures.
