Zartir
An immersive journey through three centuries of Armenian music, performed by what will surely be the country’s most important ensemble to spread the wealth of traditional music around the world – the Gurdjieff Ensemble. In this project by the group led by Levon Eskenian, entitled Zartir and published on disc by the prestigious ECM label, the legacy of the most outstanding Armenian composers of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries is evoked, in a passionate dive into musical traditions that cross several territories. A sound experience described by the New York Times as “powerfully hypnotic”.
