A Filetta was founded in 1978 by a group of young people committed to safeguarding an oral heritage that was in decline – the polyphonies of the Corsican vocal tradition. The sextet soon gained a prominent place on the world music circuit, becoming a bastion of Corsican culture. The telluric magnetism of these voices carries with it an essential truth about local life and the relationship with the land.
