Inauguration of the statue of Calouste Gulbenkian
Commemorations of the 10th anniversary, on July 20, 1965, of the death of the founder. Inauguration of the Statue of Calouste Gulbenkian by Leopoldo de Almeida.
Azeredo Perdigão uttered the following words:
“In the peace of this garden, Calouste Gulbenkian, as he did during his life and in other peaceful places, will no longer meditate on the critical problems that once absorbed him, but contemplate the growth of the work he imagined […]. And as a prelude to our profound admiration and testimony of the most heartfelt and sincere thanks, I will lay, on behalf of all of us, at your feet a bunch of flowers gathered in this park that, from now and in the future is yours, as we have decided to rename it CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN PARK.”
