NGO Capacity-Building

Facilitating transnational exchange that supports NGO capacity development and the strengthening of civil society.

The Foundation has a long history of supporting non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the UK and Portugal to grow their capacity, develop skills and spark new partnerships through international collaboration and knowledge exchange. Research and feedback from partners shows many organisations benefit from expanding their work through international connections, yet they face common challenges.

Our approach

Activities in this area of work aim to enable NGOs in Portugal and the UK to learn and develop from each other’s expertise. Knowledge exchange, study visits and mutually beneficial capacity-building initiatives will be developed in response to the specific priorities, strengths and needs of relevant sectors and the Foundation’s partners.

The goals are to:

  • Strengthen the organisational capacity, skills and networks of NGOs working in Portugal.
  • Increase transnational knowledge exchange and peer learning between NGOs in Portugal and the UK, particularly in the nature conservation and biodiversity sector.
