Roméo et Juliette
Opera in five acts
The adaptation to operatic language of one of William Shakespeare’s greatest works, Romeo and Juliet, always provides an occasion for the singers who lend their voices to the most famous romantic couple in popular culture to shine. In this production of Charles Gounod’s opera, directed by Bartlett Sher – “one of the most original and stimulating directors not only of the American theatre but also of the opera world” (New York Times) – it falls to soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Benjamin Bernheim, two singers at the peak of their careers, to take the lead roles.
