Giacomo Puccini
La Fanciulla del West was the first world premiere presented at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1910, only months after Puccini completed this opera inspired by the American West. The work would become part of the Met’s history and also stand out within Puccini’s repertoire thanks to its artistic immersion in a different cultural landscape. In Richard Jones’s production, the story of the love triangle between a tavern owner, a charming outlaw and a sheriff determined to uphold justice is brought to life by Sondra Radvanovsky, SeokJong Baek and Christopher Maltman.
