In the year marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most outstanding composers in the history of music, Gulbenkian Música will again be performing the great German composer’s symphonies. This programme is headlined by Symphony No. 3, the famous Eroica, a highlight of the “heroic period” of the German musician. Inspired by the French Revolution, Beethoven developed an epic musical style and expressed in his music the aspiration for humanist values.
