The event, which counted with a keynote lecture from European Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová, was meant to present EMIF’s Annual Report. This review of the first year of activities consolidates an accountable approach toward the media ecosystem, a purpose achieved also by presenting and acknowledging the conclusions of the external Assessment Report.

On a more knowledge-sharing stance, the conference was also an opportunity to showcase projects from grantees and two-panel discussions. The first panel emphasized the need for a better understanding of disinformation and methods for combating it without violating citizens’ fundamental rights, whilst the second explored ways to sustainably fund independent media and civil society organizations in Europe.
