In 2014, visual artist Carlos Nogueira decided to donate his documentary collection to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Carlos Nogueira (Maputo, 1947) is one of the most prominent names in contemporary art in Portugal. As a visual artist, his work spans various creative fields, crossing boundaries and combining pictorial and sculptural practices with drawing, installation, and performance art, in a poetic register that also involves writing.

The documentation of his collection is available for consultation at the Art Library. Currently consists of 172 documents produced between 1979 and 2015, and includes correspondence between the artist and friends, and Portuguese and foreign intellectuals, as well as photographs and drawings.
