Valuing the Ocean was a grant-making programme established in 2013 by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation UK Branch to support collaboration across the marine conservation sector and communication of why the ocean matters.

This booklet was published at a moment of reflection as the programme moved into a new phase. It shares lessons learnt, the approach and key achievements. From 2019-2022, the programme pivoted to support more international work, scale effective approaches beyond the UK and help in a global effort to protect our ocean.
