Gulbenkian Exhibitions Fund
Gulbenkian Exhibitions Fund aims to strengthen the visibility of contemporary arts from Portugal and Portuguese-speaking African countries in the UK cultural landscape.
The open call is now closed. Selected projects will be announced in June.
ABOUT THE CALL
The UK Branch promotes international exchange and works to strengthen links between artists, arts organisations and professionals in Portugal and the UK. The Foundation has a long history in the UK of supporting the cultural sector and championing internationalisation and professional development for artists.
Through Gulbenkian Exhibitions Fund, the Foundation aims to provide “step-up” opportunities for artists, while helping non-profit institutions foster connections and develop high-quality public programmes that engage UK audiences with arts from other regions.
Gulbenkian Exhibitions Fund expands the Foundation’s international offering for arts institutions and its work to bring Portuguese creativity to other European countries.
‘Expositions Gulbenkian’ is a twice-yearly open call led by the Foundation’s French Delegation. It has funded projects in prestigious institutions in France, including the Centre Pompidou, and has expanded to other countries in Francophone Europe. In Portugal, the Foundation’s Culture and Partnerships with Africa departments regularly publicise grants to support the internationalisation of Portuguese art. The Access to Culture programme delivers grants and projects that support greater accessibility of the arts and promote its transformational power for society.
