BGCI launches ‘Community Projects World Map’
Botanic Gardens Conservation International is an international organisation structured by a network of over 700 members -mostly botanic gardens- in 118 countries. Their aim is ‘to support and empower our members and the wider conservation community so that their knowledge and expertise can be applied to reversing the threat of extinction crisis facing one third of all plants’.
They have recently launched ‘The Community Projects World Map‘, an applet federating information about case studies of botanic gardens all over the world working with communities to tackle the social and environmental issues of today. The purpose of this online resource is to raise awareness of existing social projects and provide inspiration for botanic garden practicioners all over the world.
The applet is constantly developing and botanic garden practicioners are invited to contribute with information about case studies.
