Music can transcend sound to tell stories that mark the imagination. Grieg leads us through the adventures of Peer Gynt, a Norwegian anti-hero who defies the legendary trolls of the Scandinavian forests. Saint-Saëns evokes the dead in a macabre dance to the sound of a violin at midnight. Dukas enchants us with the comic disasters of a young man who dares to play with magic. Finally, Tchaikovsky transports us to the enchanted world of Swan Lake, where love and transformation intertwine in an unforgettable fable.

This concert will be broadcast live in Praia, Luanda and Maputo. This initiative, promoted through the Partnerships with Africa programme, is part of the Gulbenkian Foundation’s 70th anniversary celebrations and aims to bring classical music closer to audiences in these Portuguese-speaking countries.
