Giancarlo Guerrero, Principal Guest Conductor of the Gulbenkian Orchestra, returns to the stage this season to direct a chamber version of Mahler’s 4th Symphony, a work rich in meanings emerging from the intersection of the orchestra’s poetry and sounds. To sing Das himmlische Leben (“The Heavenly Life”), the song that concludes the work but which is of great importance for its entire conception, our soloist will be the German soprano Julia Kleiter, a singer with extensive experience in interpreting opera repertoires and concerts of the classical and romantic periods.
