In the concert that marks the return of the World Music Cycle, Gulbenkian Música will welcome Ensemble Al-Kindi, a group founded by the French musician Julien Weiss in 1983, dedicated to the preservation of Arab classical music, especially of the Sufi tradition. Bringing together instrumentalists and singers from Syria, Iraq and Turkey, Al-Kindi has explored a variety of repertoires, profane and sacred themes, reinterpreting and disseminating the most magical songs that cut across territories and cultures. On this night, they bring with them a performance entitled Sufi Songs of Damascus.
