Coordinated online harassment campaigns against journalists and fact-checkers are increasingly becoming an integral part of the disinformation lifecycle across Europe, including in countries with a strong tradition of press freedom values. “Decoding the disinformation playbook” is an initiative designed by a three-partner consortium, the Austria-based International Press Institute (IPI), Croatia-based Faktograf as a fact-checking organisation, and Germany-based TAZ investigative news desk.

The project aims to build upon specific case studies that showcase the mechanisms by which disinformation is created and spread in Europe, and to build a “disinformation blueprint”, which will provide a guiding map for journalists to put their skills into investigating disinformation targeting fact-based journalism as a matter of public interest.
