Sorefame – Sociedades Reunidas de Fabricações Metálicas LDA. – it was created in 1943, but it only started to build “rolling stock” in the early 1950s, when the electrification plan for the national rail network began.

Sorefame manufactured and assembled the first trains in a corrugated stainless steel box, under the license of the North American company Budd Company, holder of the patent. It remained active until the late 1990s.
