Mouradian has studied and closely followed developments in Armenian communities around the world as a scholar and a journalist. He was the editor of the Armenian Weekly from 2007 to the summer of 2014 in Boston. His extensive knowledge of the diaspora, academic training and journalistic instinct is appreciated by many Armenian community leaders. He was the recipient of the first Hrant Dink Freedom and Justice Medal (2014) of the Organization of Istanbul Armenians. Mouradian has lectured extensively and presented papers at academic conferences in Armenia, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria, UAE, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, and the U.S.

Khatchig writes: ‘During this fellowship, I plan to mine the extant primary and secondary sources pertaining to Armenians in China, as well as conduct interviews with community members. The ensuing report and interview transcripts—the product of work that will take me from San Francisco to London to Beijing—will provide future researchers on this and related topics with a treasure trove of materials.’
