Scholarship Programme
The Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation provided nearly 800,000 Euros ( USD) in scholarships to university students and academic researchers in 2016. The funds were distributed to Armenian and Armenian Studies students and researchers around the world, particularly to young scholars. Emphasis was put on more contemporary issues, the social sciences and humanities. However, this emphasis was balanced with the needs of bright students in the hard sciences. The current report, similar to previous reports, provides a detailed analysis of the Department’s scholarship programme in 2016. It was implemented through the following eight categories:
Excluding the 448 Syrian-Armenian students receiving aid from the emergency scholarship envelope, the department awarded 234 university and academic scholarships in 2016, including renewals.
