The Bodleian Library, will dedicate their winter exhibition to Armenian culture and the 2,500 years of Armenia history.  The exhibition, Armenia: Masterpieces from an Enduring Culture will be open to the public from October 23^rd 2015 to February 28^th2016. 

“The Bodleian Libraries 2015 winter exhibition celebrates over 2,500 years of Armenia history. Armenia’s Enduring Culture can refer to the great antiquity of Armenian culture, spanning more than two and a half millennia, from its first mention, carved into stone, in the reign of King Darius I (c. 550-486 BCE) to the modern Republic of Armenia and the numerous diaspora communities worldwide.”

A series of lectures will be hosted in conjugation with the exhibition addressing topics such as art, literature, history and culture.

In addition, a publication, Armenia Masterpieces from an Enduring Culture, edited by Theo Maarten van Lint and Robin Meyer, will accompany the exhibition showcasing the extensive collection of ancient manuscripts, works of art and artefacts held by the Bodleian Library.

The formal opening of the exhibition will take place on the 22^nd of October. The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, co-sponsor of the exhibition, publication and related activities, will be represented by Trustee Mr. Martin Essayan.

Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցին նվիրված ցուցահանդես Օքսֆորդի համալսարանում

Հոկտեմբերի 22-ին Օքսֆորդի համալսարանի Բոդլիան գրադարանում բացվեց «Հայաստան. հարատևող մշակույթի գանձերը» խորագրով բացառիկ ցուցահանդես` նվիրված Հայոց ցեղասպանության 100-րդ տարելիցին: Միջոցառումը կազմակերպվել է բրիտանահայ բարերար Րաֆֆի Մանուկյանի նախաձեռնությամբ ու հովանավորությամբ` Մեծ Բրիտանիայում ՀՀ դեսպան Արմեն Սարգսյանի և Գյուլբենկյան հիմնադրամի աջակցությամբ:

Բացման արարողությանը ելույթներով հանդես եկան ՀՀ դեսպան Արմեն Սարգսյանը, Բոդլիանի գլխավոր գրադարանավար Ռիչարդ Օվերդինը և Օքսֆորդի համալսարանի Հայագիտության ամբիոնի տնօրեն, հայտնի հայագետ պրոֆեսոր Թեո վան Լինտը։

Պաշտոնական մասին հետևեց հայտնի ջութակահար Լևոն Չիլինգիրյանի կողմից Նարեկացու, Սայաթ Նովայի և Կոմիտասի գործերից կատարումը։

Ցուցադրության համակարգողներն են պրոֆեսոր Թեո վան Լինտը և Բոդլիանի գրադարանավար Ռոբին Մեյերը: Հարգանքի տուրք մատուցելով Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին՝ ցուցահանդեսի կազմակերպիչների նպատակն է այցելուներին ցույց տալ հայ ժողովրդի բազմադարյա մշակութային ձեռքբերումները՝ հարուստ կրոնական և գրական կոթողներից մինչև աշխարհասփյուռ հայկական համայնքների թողած ժառանգությունը։ Ցուցանմուշներ են հավաքվել Մանչեսթերի և Լոնդոնի համայնքներից, որոնք անհատական պատմությունների հիման վրա նկարագրելու են ցեղասպանության արհավիրքը վերապրած ու Մեծ Բրիտանիայում հաստատված հայերի կենցաղը, մշակութային և կրոնական կյանքը:

Ցուցահանդեսը կտևի մինչև 2016թ. փետրվարը։ Ցուցահանդեսին զուգահեռ կազմակերպվելու են դասախոսություններ, քննարկումներ և համերգներ:

Տեղեկանք. 2015-ը նաև հիշարժան տարի է Օքսֆորդի համալսարանի համար, քանի որ նշվում է ազգային մեծ բարերար Գալուստ Գյուլբենկյանի նվիրատվությամբ բացված Հայագիտական կենտրոնի 50-ամյակը:
