Electronic Learning Initiatives for the Armenian Diaspora
In July 2014, the Armenian Communities Department launched an open call for proposals to develop electronic and online children’s learning games, language programmes, apps, interactive books, cartoons and any other electronic means to encourage children and young adults to learn and maintain Armenian in the diaspora. In November 2014, the Board of Directors of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation approved a budget of up to 250,000 USD to support the e-learning initiatives selected.
In total 24 proposals were received and were reviewed by an expert selection committee comprised of two external IT-education experts and three members from the Armenian Communities Department.
The selected beneficiaries are:

Digital Pomegranate-“Playland Armenia”
InConceptLabs-“Armenian Language Learning Mobile Application”
Mediapolis-“Armenian Alphabet”
Vergine and Garo Aprahamian-“PTIT Children’s Periodical”
Hayk Hayotsyan-“Alphabet for Toddlers” and “Spelling Game”
Massis Orer-“Armenian Conjugation”
Anna Sargsyan- “Moolt Game”
The projects supported include initiatives such as mobile device language learning apps, electronic children’s magazine, interactive graphic novel, and grammar and alphabet learning apps.
