Paolo Bortolameolli

Currently Assistant Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chilean-Italian conductor Paolo Bortolameolli has a bustling concert schedule across the Americas, Asia and Europe. In addition to his title in Los Angeles, he is also Guest Conductor in Residence of Orchestra of the Americas.
Highlights of his upcoming season include performances in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl and across the city of LA, appearances with the Houston, Cincinnati, Detroit and Vancouver symphonies as well as tours with the Orchestra della Toscana / Florence, the Gulbenkian Orchestra / Lisbon and the Orchestra of the Americas / Mexico. Additionally, he will debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic at the Hong Kong Festival to conduct Mahler’s epic “Das Lied von der Erde” in a production premiered in Los Angeles at Disney Hall last season.
Having conducted every significant orchestra in his Chilean homeland, Paolo has been awarded prizes three times by the Arts critics Association as Symphonic and Opera Conductor of the Year and returns this season to the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional Juvenil to conduct the world premiere of the Peña-Hen “Piano Concerto”, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile for “Miraculous Mandarin”, as well as the Orquesta Filarmónica de Chile at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago for Mahler’s 7th symphony.
In addition to the above upcoming engagements, Paolo has more recently been to the Latin world, to include the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolivar (Venezuela), Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia (España), Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires (Argentina, Orquesta Sinfónica del SODRE (Uruguay), Orquesta Joven de Colombia (Colombia)
and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería (México).
He is passionately committed to new music and audiences, having developed innovative projects such as the RiteNow, a celebration of the 100 Anniversary of Rite of Spring and also as the creator of “Ponle Pause”, a project that seeks to revolutionise the concept of music education through the implementation of short videos and concerts targeting social network users. Paolo conducted ATLAS, a landmark new production of Meredith Monk’s inventive opera in Los Angeles. In 2018 he was invited as lecturer for a TED Talk in New York.
Paolo received his Master of Music (Yale School of Music, 2013), Graduate Performance Diploma (Peabody Institute, 2015), Piano Performance (Universidad Católica de Chile, 2006) and Conducting Diploma (Universidad de Chile, 2011).
