Since winning First Prize in the 1987 Busoni International Piano Competition, Lilya Zilberstein has established herself as one of the finest pianists in the world. In demand as soloist, chamber musician, and teacher, she has been Artist-in-Residence with the Stuttgart Philharmonic (2012/2013), and in October 2015, became the first woman to chair the classical piano department at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. This coming season she will appear in Hungary with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Dmitri Kitajenko, performing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, in concerts at the Liszt Academy and the Pécs Kodály Centre.

In North America, Ms. Zilberstein has appeared with the symphonies of Chicago (at Ravinia), Colorado, Columbus, Dallas, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Montreal, Omaha, Oregon, Quebec, Saint Louis, and Santa Barbara, as well as the Florida Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic, and the Pacific Symphony. Worldwide engagements have included the Berlin Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Dresden Staatskapelle, Düsseldorf Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, London Symphony, Moscow Philharmonic, NHK Symphony (Tokyo), Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México, Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais/Brazil, Saarbrucken Staatstheater Orchestra, Taipei Symphony, Verdi Orchestra, and the Vienna Symphony. Festival appearances include Campos do Jordao/Brazil, Chautauqua, Ireland Chamber Music, Lugano, Mostly Mozart, and recently, the Salzburg Easter Festival.

An enthusiastic recitalist and recording artist, Lilya Zilberstein has performed at venues in Beijing, Florence, Lyon, Paris, and Taipei, to name a few. She has collaborated in numerous recitals with Martha Argerich, an exhilarating partnership spanning nearly 20 years. She has also toured extensively with Russian violinist Maxim Vengerov. Featured on the EMI recording Martha Argerich and Friends: Live from the Lugano Festival, their performance of the Brahms Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano won a Grammy nomination for best chamber music performance. She has recorded eight CDs for Deutsche Grammophon, including the Rachmaninoff Concerti Nos. 2 and 3 with Claudio Abbado and the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Grieg Concerto with Neeme Järvi and the Göteborg Symphony.
