Baritone Andrè Schuen, who comes from the Ladin area of La Val of South Tyrol in Italy, decided to attend the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and studied singing under Professor Horiana Branisteanu, and song and oratorio under Professor Wolfgang Holzmair.

Andrè Schuen starts the 2017/2018 season at the Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, in the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg and with his debut in the new production of Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at Geneva Opera as Silvio. He gives lied recitals at the Bavarian Radio in Munich and in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, is resident at the Dortmund Konzerthaus for the third season as a Junger Wilder and is a soloist in the Brahms Requiem at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival. On the concert stage this season Andrè Schuen can also be heard with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra conducted by Philippe Jordan, and also with the Orchestre National de France conducted by Pinnock.

From 2010 to 2014 Andrè Schuen was a member of the ensemble at the opera house in Graz and also continues to have a close association with the Theater an der Wien, where he has enthralled audiences and critics most recently in the title role in the world premiere of Anno Schreier’s Hamlet directed by Christoph Loy. This was followed last season by further role debut roles as Marcello in La bohème in Geneva and as Count Almaviva in a new production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in Angers and Nantes. In the summer of 2017 Andrè Schuen celebrated his North American debut at the renowned Tanglewood Festival, as well as at the Aspen Music Festival in a Schubert recital together with Andreas Haefliger.

On his first two lied CDS Andrè Schuen sings songs by Schumann, Wolf and Martin accompanied by Daniel Heide, for which he received an ECHO Klassik Award as Young Artist of the Year and he has also recorded works by Beethoven with the Trio Boulanger.
