Adrián Martínez

Trumpet

Adrián Martínez was born in Valencia in 1993. He began his musical studies at the age of nine at the Agrupacion Musical l’Amistat, in Quart de Poblet, Valencia. He finished his degree in trumpet at Valencia Conservatory, where he studied with Jaime Casas. He continued his studies at the Conservatori Superior de Música de Castelló Salvador Seguí, under Vicente Campos and Miguel Ángel Navarro, finishing it in 2016 with the highest classification. He attended the masterclasses of Gabor Tarkovi, Barbara Butler, Charlie Geyer, Pacho Flores, Allen Vizzutti, Michel Sachs, Ole Antonsen.

During his studies, he has been member of some young orchestras like Valencian Youth Orchestra, Valencian University Orchestra, European Union Youth Orchestra and Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. He received scholarships from Académie de la Musique Française, with professor Thierry Caens and Michel Plasson, and from the prestigious Music Academy of the West, in California, where he had the chance to work with some professors like Barbara Butler, Charlie Geyer, Paul Merkelo and conductors like Alan Gilbert and James Gaffigan, among others.

As a soloist, he won the International Trumpet Competition Ruben Simeó (Portugal), the National Competition: Ciudad de Xativa (Spain) and second prize in the “Theo Charlier International Trumpet Competition” in Belgium.

He collaborated with the Orquesta de la Generalitat Valenciana, Orquesta de Valencia, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE, Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao and REMIX ensemble.

Since 2018, he is the Principal Trumpet of the Gulbenkian Orchestra.
