* Portuguese premiere. Commissioned by SP-LX – Contemporary Music of Brazil and Portugal
Known for his persistent support of the new repertory, Costa Rican conductor Giancarlo Guerrero, winner of six Grammys, leads the national premiere of the Cello Concerto by Brazilian composer Marlos Nobre, within the scope of the SP-LX partnership, between the Gulbenkian Foundation and the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra. On a night where the most popular of Villa-Lobos’ pieces will be heard, the renowned cellist Antonio Meneses will render the new composition of his compatriot.
