Bringing together an important set of works of Marian inspiration, Pedro Teixeira directs a programme focused on Iberian composers who chose to follow their artistic careers outside their country. So it was with the Spaniards Francisco Garro and Estêvão Lopes-Morago – the former arrived in Portugal to become chapel master for King Philip II, the latter taking the position of chapel master in Viseu Cathedral. In the opposite direction, and proof of how there has been a constant flow between the two countries, Estêvão de Brito, born in Serpa, became chapel master in Badajoz and Malaga.
