An example of the programmes designed to suit his originality, Lorenzo Viotti directs a fascinating musical journey that has as its first stop La mer, one of Debussy’s most fascinating works. Inspired by oceanic landscapes, it has a natural link to the recitation by the actor João Grosso of excerpts from Ode Marítima by Álvaro de Campos, in a staged concert that leads on to a symphony by Szymanowski inspired by poetry, specifically by a mystical Persian text from the 13th century. These concerts also mark a new sharing of the stage, side by side, between the Gulbenkian Orchestra and the Orquestra Estágio Gulbenkian.
