A programme dedicated to three of the most emblematic creations of W. A. Mozart’s operatic heritage. The operas Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni, both dedicated to themes of amorous seduction that mix drama and comedy, are major accomplishments of the partnership between the Austrian composer and the Italian librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte. These two operas, composed and premièred in consecutive years, are combined with excerpts from a later creation, The magic flute, an illuminist-inspired opera that Mozart composed in collaboration with the librettist Emanuel Schikaneder, in an attempt to win over the audience in Vienna with a fable full of humour and magic.
