Emily Wardill. Matt Black and Rat

Matt Black and Rat is the title of the first solo exhibition in Lisbon dedicated to Emily Wardill (1977, UK), in partnership with the Bergen Kunsthall in Norway, bringing together recent and previously unseen works by the artist. It is also the second offering within the scope of the new cycle of exhibitions in the Project Space of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.

The bilingual publication accompanying this show, the second edition of a graphic and editorial project that aims to mirror the exhibitions in the Project Space, includes a text written by the curator Rita Fabiana, as well as a few lines on the artist’s biography. The three photograms on display are reproduced as full-page images, as is one of the three relief sculptures on show. In the remaining illustrations, we see stills from the two films screened and images of the exhibition space. The publication is completed by a list of the works exhibited.
