From the French se promener, meaning to walk, the term ‘promenade’ was first used in the 19th century to refer to concerts in the gardens of London, where the audience could wander around while listening to live music.

On the first Sunday of each month, visitors will be able to see the Calouste Gulbenkian collection accompanied by a diverse musical repertoire. The Promenade Concerts allow visitors to enjoy a truly musical tour through all the Museum galleries.

This initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Museum and the Music Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
