Founder’s Collection Av. de Berna, 45A, Lisbon Maximum capactity: 20 visitorsThe term ‘promenade’ (French se promener, which means to walk) was first used in the 19th century, to refer to concerts in the gardens of London, where the audience could wander while listening to live music.
In January 2016, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum adopted this concept, transferring the usual Sunday concerts, which used to occur in the Museum and Art Library halls, to the galleries, providing the audience with an opportunity to enjoy live music during their visit to the collection. Therefore, we encourage the visitor to move around freely during the concerts, saving the seats for people with reduced mobility.
The concerts take place on the first Sunday of every month, at 4:00 p.m. The admission is free.
