Paris, and in particular the Montmartre neighbourhood, was a source of inspiration for some French authors during the Belle Époque (1871-1914). In parallel, the illustrations in their books contributed to the creation of the iconic imagery of this place.

Join curator Ana Maria Campino to look at copies from the Gulbenkian Collection that show Montmartre and its contrasts: between city and country, celebration and poverty, faith and bohemianism.
