This Comics Art exhibition of French origin, under the theme of “Architecture in Comic Books”, was organized by the Institut Français d ’Architecture, created in 1981, and presented at the Modern Art Centre (CAM). This exhibition was held under the "BDboom" program held in Palácio Foz, a cultural initiative promoted by the French Embassy in Portugal, Lisbon, and the Institut Franco-Portugais.

For this purpose, the Casterman editions, the magazine (À Suivre) and the publishers Aedena, Albin Michel, Armand Colin, Autrement, Béderama, Blake and Mortimer, Crapule!, Dargaud, Dernier, Terrain Vague , Dupuis, Fleurus, Futuropolis, Glénat, Hachette, Horay, Humanoïdes Associés, Libération, Littaye, Lombard, Magic Strip, Novedi and Albert René, and Le Square  lent the original drawings produced by the proper authors.

The exhibition opened on March 26 of 1986 at the Temporary Exhibitions Gallery of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s (FCG) Modern Art Centre (CAM) and was attended by the French Ambassador in Lisbon and the President of the FCG, José de Azeredo Perdigão. It closed on April 27 of the same year.

The catalogue follows the exhibition pathway, an organization by sections, and presents 120 pages of colored boards with French text.

Within the scope of the exhibition, a retrospective cycle of French animated films was presented between April 5 and 13, 1986, with some provided and awarded films by the Festival de Annecy, by its twenty-five years of existence, and others provided by the French Embassy.  Vasco Granja was responsible for the selection and programming, as well as for the promotional texts of the films. Jean- Luc Xiberras, Director of the Festival de Annecy, made the presentation of the films provided by the festival.

The spread of the exhibition in the national press highlighted the collaboration between the FCG, the Institut Français d 'Architecture and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Portugal.
