E-democracy in Reykjavik

The Active Citizens Fund Portugal visited Iceland with 12 Portuguese NGOs to learn about e-democracy experiences in Reykjavik

Within the scope of the bilateral cooperation initiatives and with a view of promoting democracy, active citizenship, good governance and transparency, the Active Citizens Fund Portugal organised a study visit to the Citizens Foundation Iceland, where e-democracy experiences in Reykjavik, Iceland and 45 other countries using technology developed by the Citizens Foundation were presented.

The group also had the opportunity to create 3 citizen engagement projects, analyse their results and discuss how these participatory processes can be adopted in Portugal.

The Human Rights and Democracy Office of the Municipality of Reykjavik also received the Portuguese group, making a complementary presentation, in which it was shown the practical application of the Citizens Foundation’s technology in projects and policies of the Municipality.

The visit took place between the 25th and 27th of June 2023.

The following NGOs participated in the visit: Academia “A Próxima Geração”, ANIMAR, Associação Portuguesa para a Cultura e Educação Permanente, 100% Aventura, Conselho Nacional da Juventude, Coolpolitics, Fórum Cidadãos, Grupo Aprender em Festa, In Loco, Mais Cidadania, Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto e SOPRO.
