Active Citizens Fund Portugal completes its list of approved projects.
On the 23rd of March 2023, the Board of Trustees of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation approved 6 more projects of the Active Citizens Fund Portugal, in the two main intervention areas of the 2022 calls for proposals: building NGO capacities for a more democratic society and empowering vulnerable groups and respecting diversity.
This was made possible by an increase in the overbooking guaranteed by the Foundation, which allowed more funds to be allocated and more projects to be approved than those initially made available by the EEA Grants.
With this final set of projects, taken from the reserve list of the last call, the Active Citizens Fund Portugal completes a list of 182 approved projects (21% more than originally planned) and a total funding to civil society of 10.6 million euros (8.3% more than the 9.8 million provided by the three Donor Countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway).
It should also be noted that all regions of the country benefited from the support, with 75 projects (39% more than the 2018 target) located outside the Lisbon and Porto metropolitan areas.
